Well, it was election time again, at least at the Living Legends. We had a good attendance that Tuesday night during the general meeting. The final votes for the board members were close.
Those elected this year are as follows:
President: Gary Smith
Vice President: John West
Secretary: Paulette Mandala
Treasurer: Nanci West
Public Relations: Eddie Roche
Gail Brown, Gary Cross, Dave Dion, Lightnin Epton, Michele Hess, Joan Maxwell, John Peoples and Bill Watson.
Congratulations to our Executive Board and Board Members. Let’s have another fantastic year!
In July, John Peoples and I had a surprise visit at the museum from Mike and Linda Curb. Mike has supported the Living Legends in several ways, including becoming a lifetime member, buying multiple tables at our banquet, and sponsoring the museum with a financial contribution. We took pictures of Mike and Linda with the new showcases that were purchased with Mike’s donation. They are filled with items on loan from him. It was a really nice visit. It was wonderful for them to come by with such a busy schedule, and it was also their wedding anniversary! Thank you again, Mike & Linda.
Lightnin and Joan celebrated birthdays in July. Lightnin turned 98 years young! We celebrated with a beautiful cake.
The Living Legends accomplished a lot in 2017-2018. Everyone worked hard and long hours for many days, but that’s what brings the success to our events and our organization. Good work everyone!
The Living Legends Museum is in its summer hours now, which means we are open Tuesday through Saturday. We have added some new cars and displays, so come on by to say hello and look around.
We have booked our Annual LLOAR Lunch with Legends luncheon on Saturday, October 13th, at The Shores Resort & Spa again this year. It will be on their top floor Ocean Room, surrounded by a spectacular water view. They did a fantastic job last year, so the menu will be the same, including that wonderful desert bar! Tickets are on sale now. To purchase your tickets, or for more information, call Paulette Mandala at (386) 299-7343, or Gary Smith at (386) 252-1879. There is always great fellowship and food.
November will bring the annual Turkey Run at Daytona International Speedway during Thanksgiving weekend. We will have a display in the Sunoco garage area near the fourth turn. If you have a car to display, call me at the number above. This event is always busy and lots of fun. See you there!
